Wado is commonly described as a blend of Okinawan Karate and Japanese Jujutsu Additionally; and following Otsuka's guidance, the study of martial arts must be able to adapt based on the context of the what surrounds and the experience of the martial artists, it is not to be a set-in-stone and finished product but rather an always evolving experience. Perhaps, this is why Wado teachings may vary from school to school around the world.
